Bristnall Hall rebuild program in doubt

A programme to rebuild Sandwell schools could be axed if the Conservative Government withdraws millions of pounds as part of a review of public spending, it was feared today.

This could mean redevelopment plans for eight schools in Sandwell and six in Walsall could be scrapped.

All were due to be knocked down and rebuilt or remodelled under the former Labour Governments Building Schools for the Future Programme.

In Oldbury schools affected would include:

  • Bristnall Hall Technology College
  • Perryfields High School
  • I honestly fear the plans to build a new school in Bristnall will be scrapped under the Tory/Liberal Government, they have already announced 5 Billion pounds worth of cuts in the programme and their intentions to seemingly cut more would definitely see the hopes of the school, the teachers, parents and pupils CONDEM’ned by the Government in Bristnall.

I await the final outcome more in hope that the government will see the sense and benefit of the Building Schools program, not only will our children miss out on modern educational centres, but also the community; who will not have access to the sporting or social  facilities these new community schools where going to offer.
